Life Transitions

Whether we experience it as positive or negative (or some murky place in-between), change can bring feelings of uncertainty, confusion, and doubt which can be difficult to manage. Therapy is a wonderful place to process the thoughts and feelings that come to the surface after a life transition in a way that is meaningful, in order to move forward with intention, direction, and purpose.

Even positive life transitions, such as a new job, move, or planning a wedding, that can be wonderful, can also be times of chaos and apprehension. Encountering such a confusing, seemingly contradictory combination of emotions may trigger feelings of guilt or hesitancy. Therapy can be a place where, together, you and I can sort through this array of emotions; encouraging self-compassion and curiosity to achieve a deeper level of understanding and self-acceptance.

Change is a natural part of life, and experiencing a sudden life transition, positive or otherwise, can be disorienting. Processing the loss of what you once had while simultaneously transitioning to your new reality can be a shock to the system. Together we can explore the “what now” and “what next”.

“Change is inevitable. Growth is optional.”

New to New York City?

I love to work with people who have come to New York from out-of-state or out-of-country. While the activity and vibrancy of New York can be great, it can also be a sensory overload. I am originally from Texas, and I remember how overwhelming the culture shock was when I first moved to New York City. It’s crazy how lonely you can feel in such a populated place! If you’re a fellow NYC transplant and are struggling to make New York feel like home, give me a call and let’s work together to help you through this transition.
